Bingo hall ‘calls’ for charity help
A Black Country bingo venue is raising much-needed funds for a local church as part of the company’s Christmas appeal.
Each of the 76 Mecca Bingo clubs across the UK – including Oldbury – are supporting a local registered charity with a target to provide at least 50 hampers to struggling families as part of the Everyone Deserves a Christmas appeal.
Mecca Bingo Oldbury, off Halesowen Street, won’t reopen on December 2 due to Sandwell’s Tier 3 restrictions – but the club is committed to continuing to support their local community.
The club is raising funds for Oakham Church and will provide food and gift hampers for the charity to distribute to the people that it works with through its church community.
Mecca Bingo Oldbury is encouraging its customers and local businesses to come together as a community to donate food and drink that will remain fresh throughout the Christmas period – including canned or packaged goods – as well as unopened toiletries. Monetary donations are also welcome.
Donations across all clubs will be used to create the Christmas hampers, whether it be filled with festive goods from the donations, or supermarket vouchers.
