Hazardous team sent to Oldbury pub after unknown substance sprayed

More than a dozen people had to be checked over by paramedics after an unknown substance was sprayed in an Oldbury pub.

An ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to The George Inn on George Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police believe the substance was either CS gas or pepper spray.

All patients were outside the building when they got there and were discharged at the scene after being assessed.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 12.22am on Sunday morning to reports of patients who had come into contact with an unknown substance at The George Inn on George Road.

"We sent one ambulance, two paramedic officers and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.

"On arrival, all patients were outside the building. We assessed 15 people at the scene and all were discharged at the scene.”
