Stuart Towns, aged 34, died following an incident at aluminium recycling firm Alutrade in Tat Bank Road, Oldbury, last month.

It was the first of two workplace deaths in the area in quick succession - a factory worker was killed in an explosion at a recycling plant two weeks later.

Devastated friends posted messages of support on Facebook.

Chevonne Smith said: "Great bloke, was only chatting the other week. Thoughts with all the family."

Shel Whitburn said: "Gone but not forgotten, another top bloke taken from us. A star in the sky watching us."

Shena Briggs said: "I would like to say gone too soon, such a young life taken, so full of life we'll all miss Stuart. RIP."

An investigation has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive following the death of Mr Towns, who was from Oldbury and previously went to Langley High School.

An HSE spokesman said: “HSE is aware of this incident and we are assisting the police with their inquiries at this time.”
