Residents awoke on Wednesday to Quality Plated Plastics ablaze on Shady Lane.

Fire engines, gas engineers, National Grid and Severn Trent Water workers are on site as flames could be seen engulfing the factory. The road has been closed since 8am with crews suggesting it will not reopen until at least 7pm.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: "Shortly after 8.20am on Wednesday (27 December), we responded to a fire at a factory unit on Shady Lane.

"Twelve fire engines, three 4×4 brigade response vehicles, and a hydraulic aerial platform are currently in attendance, crewed by around sixty firefighters.

"This is a significant fire in a single-storey unit. There have been no reported casualties at this time."

West Midlands Police are also on the scene directing traffic as the road is a major link between Great Barr, Queslett and Kingstanding.
