Lloyds Pharmacy to close in Great Barr due to 'financial pressures'
Lloyds is closing its pharmacy in Great Barr for the final time in March.
The pharmacy in Walsall Road will shut on March 9 due to financial pressures, a spokeswoman said.
Employees will be redeployed to other pharmacies which have vacancies where possible, she added.
A spokeswoman for Lloyds Pharmacy said: "We can confirm that the Lloyds Pharmacy store on Walsall Road in Great Barr will close on March 9 2020.
"This decision has been made because of increasing financial pressures, including business rates and changes to pharmacy funding.
"We fully understand the impact that such changes can have on local communities, especially for people that have been our customers for a long period of time.
"As part of our decision-making process, we have looked at other community pharmacy provision in the area, with a view to mitigating the impact on patients as much as possible.
"For instance, we have two Lloyds Pharmacy branches within two miles and there are seven other pharmacies within one mile.
"We will be taking every opportunity to direct patients to other community pharmacies in the area and to support a smooth transition to facilitate an uninterrupted service.
"We will also be supporting colleagues at this difficult time and redeploying members of the team, where possible, to other Lloyds Pharmacy locations where vacancies exist."
