'He'll be greatly missed by all': Tributes paid to grandfather killed in A34 Great Barr crash
Tributes have been paid to a grandfather after he died in a crash in Great Barr as police appealed for witnesses.
Lloyd Reeves, aged 74, was crossing the A34 Walsall Road when he was hit by a motorbike at around 12.25am on Sunday.
Mr Reeves, who lived in Great Barr, and the motorcyclist were taken to hospital.
Mr Reeves died a short time later and the 25-year-old motorcyclist was treated for a leg injury.
A tribute from Mr Reeves’ family said: "Lloyd was a much-loved father, brother and uncle who recently became a granddad for the first time.
“He will be greatly missed by all of his family and his many friends.
“His family would appreciate their privacy being respected at this very sad time."
It is believed Mr Reeves had been in the nearby Towers Inn and was returning home when the collision happened.
The A34 has been the scene of a series of fatal and serious crashes over recent years.
Earlier this year a 28-year-old mother was left critically ill in hospital after she was hit by the Mazda car as she crossed the A34 with her four-day-old baby in a pram.
Police issued an appeal to trace a suspect in connection with the crash which happened on September 23.
Five years ago Sarah Child died and her sister Claire, who was 30 weeks pregnant at the time, was left seriously injured after they were struck by a car travelling at 70 mph on the A34 at Tower Hill.
Her mother Avril campaigned for speed limits to be reduced on the stretch.
Schoolgirl Zoe Shapiro was killed when she was struck by a van on a stretch of the A34 near the Beacon Harvester pub in February 2016.
Det Sgt Paul Hughes, from the collision investigation unit, said: “We’ve spoken to a number of people already, but are still keen to hear from anyone in the area at the time who may have seen what happened."
