Boy hit by car in Great Barr crash

An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital after he was hit by a car in Great Barr.

It happened at the junction of Aldridge Road and Greenholm Road at 8.30am on Wednesday (24).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the boy suffered head, pelvic and hand injuries.

The crash is thought to have involved a silver Nissan Juke.

The boy was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The spokesman added: "We received three calls. One paramedic officer and one ambulance attended.

"An 11-year-old boy was in collision with what looks like a silver Nissan Juke.

"He suffered head and pelvic injuries and also potentially fractured fingers on his left hand.

"He was conscious and breathing and we immobilised him and he was taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at Birmingham Children's Hospital."
