The van was set alight on Tuesday afternoon in Greenfield Avenue, off Woodcote Road.

Eight firefighters were at the scene at the height of the fire and stopped the flames from spreading to a nearby house.

Photos from the scene show trainee firefighter Jamie Gunn with the burnt out wreckage near to fencing.

Ian Nash, crew commander, said: "Someone had broken through the fence and set fire to the van. We believe it was an arson attack.

"We had difficulty getting to the van through a fence. Two crews attended the scene, a brigade response vehicle from Oldbury station and a further crew from Dudley station.

"We were worried that it would set fire to the fence and then spread to a nearby property."
