Businessman fraudulently obtained £10,000 of Covid support money

A man falsely obtained a Covid grant for £10,000 for a company he used to run in West Bromwich despite it having been dissolved the year before.

Nawinder Singh-Tiwana applied and obtained the grant in March 2020 in the name of the company, Capital Waste Management.

Singh-Tiwana of Lodge Road, Walsall, had set it up from a unit in Cape Yard, Grice Street, West Bromwich, in August 2018 but resigned as a director the following year.

At Dudley Magistrates Court, the 43-year-old admitted fraud by false representation and making or supplying an article for use in an act of fraud.
