The collision happened at the junction between Slater Street and Sheepwash Lane, in Tipton.

The van mounted the kerb and hit a green telecoms box, before going through a set of railings and narrowly missing hitting a tree.

The driver of the car was helped out of their car by emergency services and both they and the van driver were checked by ambulance crews, but were both discharged at the scene.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called by the fire service at 8.18pm on Tuesday (May 11) to Slater Street in Great Bridge in Tipton, following reports of an RTC involving a car and a van.

“An ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene and treated two patients, but neither required hospital treatment and both were discharged at the scene.”

Recovery of the van and reinstatement of the telephone service was stalled while BT assessed the situation, with work currently underway to repair any damage. A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at Slater Street in Great Bridge in Tipton at 8.18pm on Tuesday, May 11.
