Man released after pedestrian killed by car in Birmingham

A man arrested after a pedestrian died after being struck by a car in Birmingham has been released while police enquiries continue.

The 46-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a VW Golf on Hagley Road West, Quinton, at around 10pm on Friday.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was confirmed dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and being unfit through drink or drugs.

A West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed today that he had been released while enquiries continue.

Anyone with information about the crash, or who has any dash-cam footage, is urged to call West Midlands police on 101, quoting log number 4670 of November 27.
