Oldbury school evacuated after potential chemical incident
More than 300 pupils and staff were evacuated from a Sandwell primary school after a reported chemical incident.
Emergency services were called to Christ Church Primary School, in Albert Street, Oldbury, at around 1.30pm on Monday after reports of a chemical-type smell within the building.
Two women were assessed by paramedics at the scene after they felt light-headed.
A total of 276 children and 40 staff were evacuated from the building as a precaution.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that an investigation was underway to "establish the source of the smell".
The spokesman added: "At 1.31pm on Monday, October 5, we were called to Christ Church Primary School in Albert Street, Oldbury following a report of a chemical-type smell

"Two fire engines and 10 firefighters responded initially, followed by our specialist Detection, Investigation and Monitoring team.
"Two adults had complained of feeling light-headed and were attended to at the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"The school evacuated 276 children and 40 staff as a precaution. While most of the children went home, a small number remained in the grounds of the school while they waited to be collected.
"Investigations were continuing at 3pm to establish the source of the smell."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called at 1.50pm to reports of a potential chemical incident at Christ Church C of E Primary School on Albert Street in Oldbury. One ambulance and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene.
"On arrival we discovered two patients, both women, who were assessed and discharged at the scene."
