Thomas Jones search: Police find body in River Severn
Detectives searching for missing teenager Thomas Jones have pulled a body from the river today.
West Mercia Police officers have been searching for the university student after he was last seen in the early hours of September 19 close to the River Severn in Worcester.
The West Brom season ticket holder, from Bromsgrove, had just started a primary teaching course at the University of Worcester after moving on September 16, when he disappeared.
West Mercia Police said this afternoon: "Sadly, officers searching for missing 18-year-old Thomas Jones have recovered a body from the River Severn in Worcester today.
"Thomas’ next of kin have been informed but as formal identification has not yet taken place, no further details can be released at this time."
West Bromwich Albion tweeted an appeal from the police to help the search for the teenager.
The football club wrote: "Can you help? West Bromwich Albion season-ticket holder Thomas Jones is missing. If you have any information, please call 101. Thank you."
Two men were last week arrested on suspicion of murdering the student, but were released without charge.
Previously police had thanked the public for the "unprecedented" response to an appeal for information, and said officers had been working "around the clock to try and determine what happened in the early hours of Wednesday morning".
Members of the public were asked to stay away from the search area where trained divers and officers had been conducting a "full and thorough search".
