Two seriously injured after separate crashes lead to heavy delays in Stourbridge

Two separate crashes in Stourbridge resulted in heavy delays in the area on Wednesday morning.

A crash involving a car and a van has resulted in Wollescote Road having closed both ways from Brook Holloway to Walker Avenue.

Four men have been taken to hospital, two with serious injuries following the collision.

And less than ten minutes away, a car has reportedly crashed into a wall outside a Jobcentre Plus building, with emergency services present at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 8.38am to a collision involving a car and a van at the junction of Wollescote Road and Hodge Hill Avenue in Wollescote, Stourbridge and sent three ambulances, three paramedic officers, a BASICS emergency doctor and the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford and a Community First Responder (CFR) to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Upon arrival we found seven men who were assessed by ambulance staff at the scene.

“The driver of and a passenger in the car were assessed and has sustained serious injuries. They received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene.

“They were both conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by land ambulance for further treatment.

“Two passengers from the van were assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained potentially serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

“They received treatment from ambulance staff and were conveyed to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further assessment.

“Three further patients from the van, who were the driver and two passengers were assessed and had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.

“They received self care advice from ambulance staff and did not require further treatment. They were discharged at the scene.”

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We were called to the junction of Wollescote Road and Hodge Hill Avenue, Stourbridge to reports of a collision involving a car and a van.

"The passenger of the car is believed to have suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

On the Lower High Street incident police said: "We were called just before 10.30am on Wednesday to Lower High Street, Stourbridge to reports of a car colliding with a building. No one was injured."
