Driver flees as Stourbridge crash leaves man seriously injured

A driver fled the scene after a three-car crash which left a man seriously injured in Stourbridge.

The collision happened in Brettell Lane, Amblecote, at around 8.45pm on Thursday night.

It is believed two cars hit a stationary van outside the Red Lion pub near the junction of Hill Street.

Jay Dalton, 34 and from Stourbridge, was left seriously injured and taken to Russells Hall Hospital where he was set to have surgery on Friday.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said two people from one of the cars fled before officers arrived at the scene.

Relatives of Mr Dalton launched an appeal for information on Facebook where they shared photos revealing the major damage caused to two of the cars involved.

Luke Dalton said: "My brother was involved in a hit and run last night on Brettell Lane outside the Red Lion.

"The cowards got out and ran which has left my brother needing surgery this morning, absolute scum didn’t even check him.

"I’ll try and get some CCTV today so please share and let’s use the power of Facebook to track this scum down."

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: "One ambulance attended and one man, a passenger, was assessed and treated on scene for injuries, not believed to be life threatening, before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital."

Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting incident number 3710 of March 5.
