Further £1 million for Stourbridge Crematorium revamp approved
Work to upgrade Stourbridge Crematorium will now cost £2 million after council chiefs approved a cash boost.
The project to improve the South Road site was backed in February 2018 with an estimated cost of £1 million.
Work will be carried out to extend the chapel, improve welfare facilities and install two new cremators.
But surveys found an extra extension to the building would be needed – along with the roof needing repair – during a site investigation, with a further £1m needed.
Now Dudley Council's cabinet has signed off on the proposals, bringing the total amount to £2 million.
