Man dies after suffering cardiac arrest in Stourbridge
A man has died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Stourbridge.
Emergency services were called to Amblecote High Street at around 11.10am on Friday following reports of a one-vehicle crash.
A man in his 70s was taken to hospital but later died.
The road was closed by police, near to the junction of Vicarage Road, but reopened around an hour later.
Jamie Arrowsmith, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: "On arrival, crews discovered a man in cardiac arrest. Bystanders had already commenced CPR.
“Ambulance staff took over and also administered advanced life support which continued en-route to Russells Hall Hospital.
“Unfortunately, shortly after arrival at the hospital it became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased."
Stourbridge Police tweeted: "Emergency services responded to reports of a 78-year-old male in cardiac arrest.
"Despite the best efforts of West Midlands Ambulance Service the male unfortunately lost his life.
"His family have been informed."
Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.
