High Street in Amblecote, Stourbridge, should be made safer following the death of 37-year-old Krzyzstof Klasowski at the weekend, according to campaigner Ian Flynn.

Mr Flynn, who lives in Amblecote, and represents the Liberal Democrats, spoke out following the latest major incident and believes action needs to be taken to prevent further tragedies.

Mr Klasowski was found dead in the street at around 5.30am on Saturday.

He had suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

His death was the third on the road since November 2015.

Leslie Marks, 66, was hit by a car

Church helper Hassan 'Victor' Darvishand, 35, was struck and killed by a car in October 2016.

That incident came after a pedestrian was knocked over while crossing High Street at the junction with Vicarage Road.

Leslie Marks, 66, was hit by a car driven by a man who had been speeding and on his mobile phone leading up to the crash.

There have been several other crashes in recent years on the route which joins Stourbridge ring road.

Mr Flynn said: "I’m worried about my young family, relatives and friends using this road as an alarming pattern of events has emerged over the last 12 months

“An urgent safety assessment is required from the highway authority to stop this alarming pattern of traffic accidents.

"I’d suggest that there is an issue here which needs to be resolved before there are further incidents.”
