Inquest opens on Stourbridge man Matthew Gill found after search
An inquest of a 43-year-old Black Country man whose disappearance sparked a major search has been opened.
The South Staffordshire Coroner opened the inquest of Matthew Gill.
Mr Gill, who was found dead on land off Prestwood Drive, near Stourton, had been missing from his Stourbridge home since October 6.
The cause of death has been recorded as hanging.
The disappearance of the B&Q employee sparked a search which stretched as far as Los Angeles and saw multiple football clubs and businesses offering their help.
Just a week before he was found, Kingswinford logistics firm JJX Logistics placed a huge missing poster on the side of one of its lorries in a bid to find the missing man.
The firm had plans to send the truck and the giant missing poster to Europe.
A huge online appeal was also launched, with the Facebook page FindLiggy gaining more than 9,000 followers at one point.
But the appeal came to a tragic end when he was found on the afternoon of Sunday November 26 close to where his car, a silver Smart Roadster, had been found earlier in the search.
The inquest was adjourned on November 28. A provisional date of March 6 has been given for the upcoming inquest.
