Schoolgirl 'seriously injured' after Stourbridge crash
A nine-year-old schoolgirl has been seriously injured after a collision with a car outside her school this morning.
She was knocked unconscious before being rushed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital by paramedics.
A woman driving the car was also assessed at the scene 'but was discharged with advice', a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said.
Paramedics and an air ambulance were called to the scene outside Hob Green Primary School in Hob Green Road, Wollescote, Stourbridge, just after 9.00am today.
The spokesman said: "The girl was initially unconscious but came around as she was treated by ambulance staff. She had suffered serious injuries.
“After assessment by the doctor, she was taken by land ambulance on blue lights to the specialist paediatric major trauma centre at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
“The woman driving the car was also assessed at the scene but was later discharged with advice.”
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a senior paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford - with a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic on board - were sent to the scene.
Officers from West Midlands Police also attended the scene.
The force confirmed the driver of the car had stopped at the scene and cooperated with officers, but had not been arrested.
