Pensioner rescued after car hits post box in Stourbridge
A pensioner was taken to hospital after his car ended up on its side after smashing into a post box.
The smash happened on the busy Hagley Road in Stourbridge at around 2pm yesterday.
Firefighters used a ladder to get the driver, a man in his 70s, out of the Hyundai, which suffered significant damage to its front.
He was taken to Russells Hall Hospital with minor injuries.
The red post box was knocked onto its side, with the impact forcing its lid to come off.
The car also hit a street sign and a bollard before coming to rest on its side.
Hagley Road was closed while firefighters worked to get the man out of the car.
West Midlands Fire Service spokesman Matthew Smith said: "The incident involved one car on its side after a collision with a post box and street furiture.
"One male was removed from the vehicle using a triple-extension ladder. He was transferred to hospital by ambulance."
