'You will forever be in our heart' - Hundreds say farewell to Stourbridge stabbing victims

Hundreds of mourners have paid their respects at the funerals of a mother and son killed in their home in Stourbridge.

Tracey Wilkinson, aged 50, and son Pierce, 13, were killed in a horrific stabbing at their home, in Greyhound Lane, Norton, in March.

Husband and father Peter Wilkinson, 47, was left fighting for his life.

People gathered at St Mary's Church, in Oldswinford, today as the funerals of Mrs Wilkinson and Pierce took place.

The funeral procession arrived at the church shortly before 11am.

Mr Wilkinson stood with his daughter Lydia as they clasped hands while family, friends and well-wishers joined them outside.

In a heartbreaking tribute left with flowers to Mrs Wilkinson, her husband and daughter said: "We love you so much, you will forever be in our heart and souls.

"You're so beautiful, fly high. Until we meet again, love forever."

Another tribute left to Pierce from his grandmother said: "To my golden boy missed every day. Love you lots and love you more every day."

Floral tributes from family

Around 300 people gathered inside the church for the funerals.

Members of Kidderminster Male Choir performed the song 'Angels' ahead of the arrival of the cortège.

Members of Hall Green Retired Greyhound Trust, who helped the family rehome their own pet, came to the funeral with their own dogs.

Speaking ahead of the service, The Rev Stephen Agnew, said: “It’s going to be very hard for a lot of people, but for the whole community as well.

Lydia, who was away at Bristol university on the day of the attack on March 30 at their family home in Greyhound Lane, delivered an emotional tribute.

She described her champion ballroom dancer mother as her ‘inspiration’ and ‘best friend’ while she said tech-savvy Pierce who loved films like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings would likely have become an engineer, saying he was the ‘best brother’ she could have asked for.

The service, ended with his favourite song ‘Hooked on a Feeling’ by Blue Swede, playing out.
