Car park closure for new Sedgley Aldi store 'will be worth it'
The short-term pain caused by the loss of a town centre car park to make way for a new supermarket will be worth the gain the store brings to the area, says a councillor.
That's the view of a Sedgley councillor who is welcoming the impending arrival of an Aldi store.
At a Dudley North Community Forum, Councillor Shaun Keasey fielded questions on Thursday about the new 20,000 sq ft supermarket which will open next year after being approved in March.
The Dudley Council-run car park next door to the site, in Bilston Street, has now closed to make way for construction of the new store, which will also cover the site of the former Gould's electrical store, while the car park of the neighbouring Red Lion pub will also be reconfigured.
