Married mother-of-two Jo Mason, from Sedgley, died aged 48 on September 16 after a tragic accident.

During her funeral at Gornal Wood Crematorium in Dudley, on Monday, 24 instructors lined the cortege’s route to pay their respects.

The family of Jo, who had been a driving instructor for 13 years, said they were overwhelmed by the funeral’s turnout and really appreciated the gesture.

Daughter Charlotte, 18, an actress from Dudley, said: “It was an absolutely unbelievable turnout, it was very humbling for our family.

“It was organised by mum’s close friend Nikki and we all thought it was a nice way to say goodbye.

"My mum was a wonderful person, she had been a driving instructor for 13 years, and her reputation preceded her.

"All the instructors said she was always remembered for her smile on the road and for always waving at other instructors while driving.”

Footage of the funeral procession was filmed by Jo’s driving instructor colleague, Tara Whitehouse.

Tara said: “I was filing the procession, as a driving instructor on a test. I didn’t know Jo Mason personally, just on the road as driving instructor.

“She was a ray of sunshine with her smiling face and her enthusiastic wave. My thoughts are with her family.”
