Sedgley was an ancient manor with its existence intertwined with neighbouring villages, notably Gospel End and Coseley. It was certainly lively with bull baiting at its centre, giving rise to the Bull Ring surrounded by landmark pubs. Beacon Hill overlooks the village, marking one of the highest points in the West Midlands. And Sedgley’s links with the Earls of Dudley is enshrined with Baggeridge Park, once part of the Himley estate, which now provides one of the area’s popular attractions.
