Teachers and learners from The Link Academy in Netherton came together to create the piece, which features an original song.

English teacher Claire Stanford has written the song – titled Stay at Home - Thank you NHS – and performed it to showcase the school's support.

It also calls on people to stay home and stop the spread of Covid-19.

Principal Emma Edwards-Morgan, a former pupil of the school when it was the Hillcrest School and Community College, said: "The Link Academy is literally just up the road from Russells Hall Hospital and naturally the staff have a number of friends who are frontline workers.

"We asked the children to put some artwork together – and the staff as well – and a teacher, Claire Stanford, just penned a song and recorded it.

"She sent it to me and I was like 'this is amazing' so we just put it all together – Rebecca Sweet put it all together based around the song.

"It's nice to show our appreciation of them."

The Link Academy, based in Simms Lane, has already donated personal protective equipment (PPE) – such as safety goggles – to the hospital.

"It was really about sending a message to them to give them some hope," the 39-year-old said.

"And I'm really proud of how it turned out – we're a close nit school and it's brought us all together, even if we're not."
