Staff and customers at the Dudley Road McDonald's, in Kingswinford, spent the month before Christmas raising funds to buy presents for youngsters who will be spending the festive season at Russells Hall Hospital.

The restaurant collected donations from staff and customers and held a raffle, to help to raise between £350 and £400 which has been put towards buying a PlayStation4 console for the children's ward at the hospital, as well as chocolate for all the young patients.

Amjad Ali, assistant store manager at McDonald's, said: "We have raised between £350 and £400 in total – we did a raffle and had donations from staff and customers.

"With the money we raised, we have brought £200 worth of chocolates for the children and a PlayStation4 console to donate to Russells Hall Hospital's children's ward.

"We decided we wanted to give something back to the community, as well as surprising the children who will be spending their Christmas in hospital.

"Our initial target was to raise £250 to buy the console but when the money kept increasing we thought it would be nice to get them some chocolate too."
