A man has died after a crash involving two motorcyclists and a car outside a school.

The smash happened outside Summerhill School, in Lodge Lane, Kingswinford.

A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital but later died.

Another rider, a man in his 30s, was taken to the same hospital for multiple injuries.

A woman in her 40s was treated for less serious injuries at Russells Hall Hospital.

A man and a woman from the same car were uninjured.

Three ambulances, a senior paramedic officer and the MERIT Trauma Doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene at around 7.10pm on Thursday.

The crash came hours before a woman was killed when a car hit a wall in Chester Road, Stonnall, near Walsall.

A car crashed close to Stonnall Service Station at around 10.20pm.

And hours later a lorry driver died after several heavy goods vehicles crashed on the M40.

The motorway in Warwickshire has been closed in both directions after the crash at around 4.15am on Friday and a separate lorry fire.

When paramedics arrived at the scene they found two lorries ablaze and a third just in front, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

A spokesman said: "Unfortunately, the driver of one lorry died at the scene.

"The driver of a second lorry, a man in his 60s, was treated at the scene for a medical condition and was taken to Warwick hospital.

"The third driver was uninjured."

Highways England warned that the motorway could remain closed between Warwick and Henley-in-Arden throughout Friday after the pile-up.

Warwickshire Police, who posted footage on social media showing emergency crews tackling the lorry fire, said officers remained at the scene of the collision on the northbound carriageway between junctions 15 and 16.

One of the fire damaged lorries on the M40

The force said in a statement: "The road is expected to be closed for the majority of the morning, while the southbound stretch of the M40 from junctions 15 to 16 is also closed at this time due to a separate lorry fire.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area completely and follow diversions put in place by Highways England."

Highways England said the closures mean motorists cannot join the M40 from the M42.

One of the incidents resulted in a significant fuel spillage and fire, the agency added.
