Drink-drive arrest as car hits wall and ends up in garden in Black Country crash
A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a car crashed into a wall and garden, leaving a passenger seriously injured.
The Vauxhall Zafira ended up in a raised front garden with major front-end damage after the crash in Manor Lane, Halesowen, on Saturday.
Paramedics, police and 10 firefighters were sent to the scene at around 6.55am.
A 27-year-old male passenger had to be cut free by fire crews before being taken to hospital with multiple injuries. He was said to be in a serious but stable condition.
The 28-year-old driver managed to get himself out of the car and was less seriously injured but was taken to hospital before being arrested.
Photos from the scene showed how the car ended up facing the road metres away from the front of the house after knocking bricks out of the garden wall.
A fire in the car's engine also had to be put out by firefighters.
Manor Lane was closed between Lapal Lane North and Leasowes Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident and buses were diverted as a result.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Officers are trawling CCTV footage from the area and are asking any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Meanwhile over in Lye, Stourbridge, emergency services were called to a crash on Dudley Road that left at least two cars damaged on Saturday morning.
"This is not the first collision we have attended this morning," the West Midlands Police Force Response account tweeted.
"Please take extra care in this wet weather and drive to the condition of the roads."
