Artist impressions show how revamped Black Country leisure centres could look
Artist impressions have been released showing how two Black Country leisure centres will look under plans for refurbishments.
Improvements have been earmarked for Halesowen Leisure Centre and Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge.
The Halesowen site, in Pool Road, is in line for a revamp to its front entrance alongside improvements to its gym and new children's play area.
One drawing shows the building featuring a new pink and white exterior. A planning application has been submitted ahead of the proposals.
Crystal Leisure Centre is in line for improvements to its changing rooms with a drawing showing a gleaming new facility featuring white and purple decor.
Both leisure centres will have significant repairs carried out as part of the proposals from Dudley Council.
It forms part of wider plans to improve leisure facilities in the borough - with a £18.2 million new leisure being built at Constitution Hill in Dudley.
Dudley councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member responsible for leisure centres, said: "There’s a lot happening with leisure centres at the moment.
"We are already seeing the new Dudley Leisure Centre taking shape but with the potential for improvements at Halesowen and Crystal, the future looks very bright for leisure centre users.
"Halesowen is in-line for a new look entrance, adventure play area and café.
"There will also be major changes to the swimming pool to cater for learner and advanced swimmers.
"The plans also include new ‘village style’ changing rooms, pool-side viewing area and a state-of-the-art fitness suite."
The plans also form part of a wider major regeneration programme bringing more than £1billion investment to the town centre.
The new Dudley leisure centre will benefit from public transport links through the forthcoming adjacent Midlands Metro stop and a new nearby bus interchange.
The new facility will include a 25-metre swimming pool, teaching pool, four-court sports hall, gym, sauna and exercise studios.
There will also be a cafe, party room and soft play area with catering facilities.
