Teenage cyclist seriously injured after being hit by van in Halesowen
A teenage cyclist was seriously hurt when she was hit by a van in Halesowen.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Shelton Lane and Belle Vale at around 9.20pm on Sunday.
A teenage girl, the cyclist, suffered potentially serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
The driver of the van, who was unhurt in the collision, stopped at the scene and is assisting West Midlands Police with enquiries.
A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a cyclist and van at the junction of Shelton Lane and Belle Vale, Cradley at 9.25pm on Sunday night.
"A teenager suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
"The driver of the van stopped and the scene and is assisting with enquiries."
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman added: "We were called to the junction of Shelton Lane and Belle Vale in Halesowen at 9.20pm on Sunday night to reports of a collision between a small van and a bicycle.
"An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the MERIT Trauma Doctor were sent to the scene. On arrival, they found a teenage girl who had suffered multiple potentially serious injuries.
"After being assessed and treated at the scene, she was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital on blue lights. The van driver was unhurt."
