Tributes as biker Gemma dies four days after Halesowen crash

A female motorcyclist who died after a crash in Halesowen has been named as Gemma Smith.

The 24-year-old was involved in a serious crash when her bike hit the central reservation on Manor Way at around 12.20pm last Saturday.

Gemma was treated by paramedics at the scene but died in hospital four days later on Wednesday.

In a tribute from her family, Gemma was described as a "vibrant" woman "who had so much to give".

West Midlands Police is continuing their investigation to piece together what happened leading up to the collision.

In a statement released on Friday, Gemma's parents said: "We are devastated at the sudden loss of our beautiful daughter – she will always be remembered as a vibrant and active young lady who had so much to give.

"As a family we respectfully request privacy to grieve during this very difficult time.”

Pc David Hand, from West Midlands Police's Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are still keen to hear from any witnesses and particularly anyone with dashcam footage who could assist our investigation.

“Our thoughts remain with her family who are being supported by specialist officers."
