Driver arrested 'trying to flee' Halesowen crash scene

A driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after allegedly trying to flee the scene of a crash in the Black Country.

The 32-year-old woman was arrested after a Fiat Punto and Citroen Belingo crashed in Furnace Lane, Halesowen, at 4.10pm on Friday.

Two people were taken to hospital with injuries which were not thought to be life threatening, according to West Midlands Police.

A member of the public said the crash happened outside The Earls High School and that there was a large amount of emergency services at the scene.

The Fiat driver was arrested near to the crash site and has been released by police while investigations continue.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "The driver of the Punto attempted to flee the scene but she was quickly detained nearby and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

"The 32-year-old has been released while investigations continue.

"Two people were been taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening."
