Three injured as car ends up on roof in M5 smash

Five people had to be checked over by medics after a three-car smash which saw one vehicle end up on its roof on the M5.

The crash happened just before 1pm on Saturday on the M5 north between junctions three and two in the Woodgate Valley area, close to the Halesowen junction.

One person was taken to Sandwell hospital following the crash and two people suffered minor injuries.

Two fire crews, one from Tipton and another from Bournville attended the scene.

Speaking about the crash, a spokesman from West Midlands Fire said: "We were called at 12.51 to a three-motor-vehicle collision on the M5 north between junctions three and two.

"One vehicle ended up on its roof.

"Five people were involved and had self-extricated by the time we arrived.

"Two passengers were treated for minor injuries.

"One person was taken to Sandwell Hospital for further treatment.

"We sent two appliances to the scene and left at 1.37pm."
