Man dies after couple found critically ill at Cradley home

An elderly man has died two days after being found in a critical condition with his wife in their Black Country home.

Police and paramedics found the husband and wife at their home, in Overend Road, Cradley, on Monday.

Ambulance crews were called at around 8.55am to what was described as a "medical emergency".

The couple, aged 87 and 84, were taken to Russells Hall Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

West Midlands Police confirmed the man died yesterday.

Detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Officers were stationed outside the home after the pair were found.

A force spokesman said: "The woman remains in hospital and an investigation is under way to establish the circumstances of what happened.

"Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the enquiry."

A number of paramedics were called to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: “On arrival we discovered two patients, a man and a woman.

"They both received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before both being transported to Russells Hall Hospital.”
