Man dies at Coseley railway station

A man has died at Coseley railway station.

Emergency services were called to the station shortly after 7am this morning following reports of a person on the tracks.

Sadly, nothing could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police said the man's death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Coseley station at 7.07am on Friday morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 7.11am to reports of a casualty on the tracks near to Coseley Station.

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer, the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car a HART paramedic attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered one patient. Sadly it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save them and they were confirmed dead at the scene."

The station was closed during the incident and the line blocked while emergency services were at the scene. The line reopened at 9.15am – but West Midlands Railway warned of delays and cancellations.
