New temporary travellers camp backed for Coseley
Dudley Council has agreed plans to build a temporary travellers site in Coseley.
The site will be established on land off Budden Road, in a bid to tackle illegal camps in the borough.
Dudley Council leader Patrick Harley said the local authority spends around £150,000 each year cleaning up illegal camps.
The transit site will give the council and police tougher powers to evict travellers from unauthorised sites, and move them onto the temporary site.
It will be equipped with water, power and waste facilities and travellers would be charged a fee for a short stay.
The camp will last for a three-year period.
Dudley Council has announced it will also look at establishing a permanent site in the future.
