Birmingham New Road crash: Two injured after car overturns in smash
Two people were trapped in their car for around 45 minutes after it overturned on a busy Black Country road.
They were both taken to hospital, with the driver suffering 'multiple serious injuries' and a teenage girl cuts to her head and an arm wound.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at the junction of Shaw Road and Birmingham New Road in Coseley at 5.05am today.
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a trauma doctor to the scene.
Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said: “Crews arrived on scene to find a car that had overturned and two patients trapped inside.
“Following an initial assessment of the patients, ambulance staff worked closely with the fire service to carefully free them from the car.
“The driver of the car, a man, was treated for multiple serious injuries, including to his head and chest.
“In order to stabilise his condition, he was anaesthetised at the scene and transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, on alert.
“The second patient, a teenage girl, was treated for cuts to her head and an arm injury and taken to Russells Hall Hospital.”
