Police provide update on seriously injured man who fell in canal as they stop investigation
The man found with seriously injuries near Brierley Hill Canal over the weekend had "fallen in by accident".
Ambulance crews rushed to Nine Locks Bridge, Mill Street, on Saturday morning around 11.30am after reports a man was seriously injured.
He was taken to Russells Hall Hospital for treatment and is believed to be making a recovery now.
West Midlands Police have confirmed they are no longer investigating the case as it was an accident.
A police spokesperson said: "It appears a man fell, it was an accident. No further police involvement required."
Earlier this week a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to Nine Locks Bridge at Dudley Canal in Brierley Hill at 11.26am on Saturday, February 4. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team were sent to the scene.
"On arrival, they found one male patient with serious injuries. He was treated by ambulance staff at the scene before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital for further treatment."
