MP hosts event for Dudley business leaders

Black Country business leaders got the chance to meet with their new MP at a breakfast meeting organised in their constituency.

About 15 businesses, including Specsavers, law firm Waldrons and clothing brand Rude Attire attended the event organised by Dudley MP Sonia Kumar.

It was held at Dudley Canal Trust's Gongoozler Cafe, and provided an opportunity for businesses to meet their MP, who sits on the business and trade committee in Parliament. 

Those attending heard from West Midlands Growth Company, which provides support to start-ups and to small and medium businesses, and advice on how to develop and expand their businesses.

There was also a short talk from the Dudley Canal Trust about the history of the Dudley Canal Tunnel, as well as the nature haven along the canal where the trust provides boat trips.

Miss Kumar said she was working had to see businesses in the area of all kinds flourish.

"We have a fantastic history in Dudley of industry as well as being a historical market town since the Middle Ages," she said.

"Ideas were shared and businesses were able to connect and share their own best practices as well as work through issues they were experiencing with understanding fellow entrepreneurs," she said.

“It’s wonderful to continue to meet with so many of our amazing Dudley-based businesses, I hope we can carry on working together and see our local economy grow.”
