Aspiring artist immortalises Crooked House pub in glass
The historic Crooked House which was destroyed in a blaze has been commemorated in a new glass artwork.
Aspiring artist Thomas Southall who lives near the Himley site decided to create the impressive piece after the wrecked building was demolished two days after the fire which happened on August 5.
Also a local history boffin, the 30-year-old, who recalls family meals at the public house, in Himley Road, combined his talents to come up with the plaque which is now on display at Stourbridge Glass Museum.
Thomas says: "I created the image the day after it was bulldozed. I had some glass slabs lying around and I thought I'd use them. I actually did it in my shed at home using a drill and it took me about seven hours to complete.
"The Crooked House was a special building. I actually live in Lower Gornal close by and I wanted to raise awareness about its heritage and importance to the community. Every so often our family which have a meal their to celebrate birthdays or Christmas.
