Speaking to the Express & Star, the 63-year-old advertising executive said the Himley-based pub had 'transcended generations with its mythical qualities' and that if it couldn't be re-built, a permanent memorial of it should stand in its place.

Mr Beattie, a University of Wolverhampton graduate, is considered one of the leading figures in advertising and runs the Beattie McGinness Bungay (BMB) agency. He was formerly the chairman and creative director of TBWA London.

Born in Birmingham, Mr Beattie lauded the Crooked House as 'unique to the Midlands' and recently offered a 'handsome' reward to anyone who had information about who may have started the fire which destroyed it earlier this month – his tweet has been viewed four million times.
