See inside Dudley Hippodrome as work to strip iconic building gets under way
Work to strip the inside of Dudley Hippodrome is starting, with the Express & Star given exclusive pictures of the building's interior.
It is believed work on the auditorium and surrounding walls of the building at Castle Hill is being carried out by Dudley Council ahead of proposed demolition work, with machines from Wednesbury-based EDR spotted onsite.
But campaign group Friends of Dudley Hippodrome have again warned any work carried out towards demolition would be illegal on the basis of the council not owning the site or the adjoining land.
Dave Homer from the group said: "I will say again they are in contravention of planning laws which say demolition work can't be undertaken until a contract for the work has been executed.
