Black Country Festival is back bigger and better than ever
The Black Country Festival is well underway and in 2023 is thriving more than ever according to the organisers.
Halesowen and Stourbridge carnivals took place last weekend, with fun days held in Gornal and Netherton Park. They followed the successful Armed Forces Day events at West Park, Wolverhampton, Sandwell Valley and Himley Hall which got the festival underway the previous weekend.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the first Black Country Day, which was initially held on March 30, 2013. This year it will be staged on Friday July 14, with entertainment in Stone Street, Dudley, all day to coincide with the Dudley Grand Prix cycling race and events at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and Brierley Hill Civic Centre.
Before then, on Saturday July 8, there is the Together Festival at Himley Hall, Pelsall Carnival, the Dudley Classic Car Show in the town centre and entertainment with the Friends of Russells Hall. Steve Edwards, who in 2012 came up with the idea for the first Black Country Day, said it had spiralled since then and in 2023, with the festival surrounding it, it was going to be bigger and better than ever.
