Nominate inspiring Dudley folk for recognition
The mayor of Dudley is encouraging residents to nominate individuals in the community who have made a huge contribution to the lives of others and deserve national recognition.
To be considered for an honour in 2022, the individual needs to be nominated anonymously before Tuesday, April 6.
There are various types of award, each one recognising people from all communities who have made outstanding achievements in public life, committed themselves to serving and helping Britain or worked hard to make life better for other people.
Councillor David Stanley, mayor of Dudley, said: "Dudley borough has so many people who go above and beyond and make an outstanding contribution to the local community and many of these are worthy of a Queen’s Honour.
"To ensure that these people are fully recognised it is important that nominations are made for them to be considered by the honours committee. Hopefully they will go through to be recommended to the Prime Minister and the Queen, who bestows an award."
To nominate someone there is a form to complete with the nominee’s name, age, address, details of relevant work or volunteering they’ve done, plus any awards or other recognition they’ve received, as well as two supporting letters from people who know the nominee personally. Currently you can also nominate someone who has made an exceptional contribution to the response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis in the UK. There is a separate form for these entries.
