Dudley bank director in cycle challenge for Black Country Food Bank
The director of a Dudley bank is set to cycle 40 miles to raise funds for the Black Country Food Bank.
Lee Currier, who is the local director at Metro Bank in Merry Hill, will take part in the charity challenge on Friday.
He will cycle from Metro Bank in Merry Hill to the Metro Bank in Wolverhampton, along the Black Country Canal network.
Lee has already raised more than £1,000 for the Black Country Food Bank, which supports vulnerable individuals and families in the region, providing food supplies and longer-term support solutions.
For the first part of the cycle challenge, Lee will be joined by Lakh Singh, his colleague and local director of the bank's Wolverhampton branch.
Lee said: "When the pandemic hit earlier this year our store acted as a collection hub accepting donations for our community’s most vulnerable.
Desperate
"I am delighted to continue to support the Black Country Food Bank, this time setting myself a personal challenge to raise money to support the charity’s administration and overheads incurred in the logistics of providing this vital service.
“2020 has been like nothing that we have ever seen before and food banks need our support more than ever. Thank you to all the generous people of the Black Country who have sponsored my cycling challenge so far.”
Jen Coleman, from the Black Country Food Bank. added: “It’s fantastic to see Lee and the team at Metro Bank’s continued support.
"We cannot continue to do the work we do without the help of local people and it is these contributions that will help some of the most desperate people in our area – those struggling to make ends meet and unable to afford the basic needs in life.
“We wish Lee the best of luck with his challenge and thank you to those who continue to support us.”
