Work on a new £18.2 million leisure centre in Dudley is taking shape.
New aerial images show the steel structure for the building is nearing completion and the beginnings of a large swimming pool can be seen inside the building.
It is hoped that the new Dudley leisure centre, at Constitution Hill, will be finished by early 2022.
It will include a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool and a teaching pool with spectator provision.
There will be a four-court sports hall suitable for indoor football, badminton, a 100-station gym and fitness suite, two group exercise studios and a cycle studio.
Councillor Ian Kettle, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said: “As residents will no doubt notice when they pass it, work is progressing nicely on the new leisure centre site.
"I can confirm it will continue during the second lockdown, with Covid-19 safe working practices in place.
“We are on track to open to the public in early 2022.”
The plans are part of a wider major regeneration programme bringing over £1billion investment to the town centre.
Dudley Council, which is funding the project, hopes to have the facility open ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The leisure centre will benefit from good public transport links such as the forthcoming Midlands Metro stop, which will be located adjacent to the site, and the nearby bus interchange.
