New CCTV system for Lye
Six new CCTV cameras will be installed in Lye as part of a £1.7 million upgrade of Dudley's camera network.
Dudley Council is drawing up plans for the cameras at key locations.
Over the past few months the old, outdated system has been replaced with new cameras capable of more detailed images and evidence gathering.
Town centres in Halesowen, Dudley, Stourbridge and Brierley Hill are now complete. Other key areas have also been added to the programme of work including Sedgley town centre and Castle Gate and Coronation Gardens, in Dudley.
The positions of the cameras in Lye are being carefully planned following detailed analysis of the area and information from police.
Councillor Laura Taylor, cabinet member responsible for community safety, said: "Lye is the latest busy town centre to be added to the roll out and I am delighted that we can help make shoppers and traders feel safer.

"The new cameras are a significant investment in tackling crime and boosting safety and I am sure they will be welcomed by everyone in Lye."
The scheme is the biggest overhaul of closed-circuit cameras in the council’s history and replaces old and outdated cameras, which suffered repeated breakdowns and costly repairs.
It is being done in partnership with police and gives clearer images of sites which can help in catching and prosecuting offenders, the authority says.
A new control room is being built as part of the plans and discussions are underway to add traffic cameras.
The cameras could be installed later this year.
