Church's gifts brings smiles to Dudley care home residents
Residents of a Black Country care home were thrilled after receiving gifts from a nearby church.
Castlegate Church in Dudley donated bouquets of flowers and chocolates for each resident at Broadway Halls Care Home in the town.
The gifts were a complete surprise, but were very much appreciated by residents.
Rebecca Long, general manager of the care home, said: "It was so wonderful of the church and their parishioners to think of our residents.
"The gifts of flowers and chocolates were brilliant and made all the residents smile and feel happy that someone was thinking of them.
“What an amazing community spirit we have locally, thank you to Castlegate Church and everyone else who is making a difference to people’s lives during lockdown - you are special people.
"As with all care homes during Covid, Broadway Halls residents have been unable to receive visits in the home from family and friends and have not been allowed out for trips or to see family.
"They have continued to have activities but with social distancing which has its challenges and is not as enjoyable as chatting to their friends in the home as they would under normal circumstances.
"For many people during lock down we can think, ‘it’s only for a few months’ we can deal with this but for the elderly each day is precious and especially if they are unwell family visits have meant so much.”
