The two cemeteries, which are adjoined to Gornal Wood and Stourbridge crematoriums, had been closed all all except those attending burial services for the last week.

Despite the cemeteries reopening, funerals for burials and cremation services will continue to be limited to a maximum of 10 people.

Councillor Ian Kettle, Dudley Council's cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise, said: "We had closed the gates to Stourbridge and Gornal Wood cemeteries to visitors not attending funeral services last week on Government advice at the time.

"However, on new Government advice we are now able to open the gates once again.

“We are aware of how important it is for families to be able to visit the cemetery sites to remember loved ones, but I would, however, like to remind people to maintain social distancing when visiting by remaining at least two metres away from others.”

Cemeteries including Dudley, Dudley New, Lye and Wollescote, Cradley, Halesowen and Brierley Hill are also open to the public.
